Deaf Awareness Week: Sex Worker & Ally Auslan Workshop + Storytime

Join us for an evening of community, learning, and connection, led by Deaf sex workers.


This free event is open to all sex workers and allies, and is hosted by Vixen in collaboration with Deaf sex worker community leaders.  

Date: Tuesday 6 May 2025

Time: 5:00pm–8:00pm

Location: Vixen Auditorium, 5 Merrifield St Brunswick

Cost: Free – snacks provided

Accessibility: Wheelchair and mobility aid accessible, Auslan interpreters, no flashing lights, plenty of seating available.

Agenda


5pm–6pm | Entry, snacks and chats
6pm–7pm | Auslan lesson and Deaf Awareness training, focusing on basic Auslan (greetings, numbers, and sex industry-specific phrases). Aimed at sex workers who want to provide services to Deaf clients or connect with Deaf sex working colleagues. The session will be designed to inspire further learning and formal Auslan classes.
7pm–8pm | Deaf and sex worker storytime.
8pm | Wrap-up and close.

Additional Deaf, native Auslan users and teachers will also facilitate (names tbc)
